JEREMY
Talofa, my name is Jeremy Lui. I am an experienced gym owner and professional health and fitness coach with over 12 years of industry expertise. Throughout my career, I have successfully guided numerous individuals towards achieving their fitness goals. Engaging in physical training and maintaining an active lifestyle has always offered me a therapeutic escape, and it is truly fulfilling to share this passion with others.
Being a part of the fitness industry has allowed me to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and witness the profound impact that exercise has on their mental well-being. This has been an incredible accomplishment for me.
As a father to two wonderful children, I recognize the importance of safeguarding their mental well-being and assisting them in navigating their chosen paths safely. I consider myself fortunate to be in a position where I can contribute to our community by extending this support to our young tamariki and rangatahi.
I strongly believe in the adage, “You become your environment,” and it is my utmost goal for Te Aukaha to cultivate an environment that fosters confidence, respect, and integrity.
JETHRO
I’m Jethro Hooker. I am a Financial Adviser with over 20 years of experience advising on a wide range of Financial Planning issues. I have a Bachelor of Commerce and double major 1995-1998 from the University of Otago. I am the father of three children. My interests are Rugby, Gym, most outdoor activities, holidaying with family and friends, helping Youth and having lots of fun.
We read every day in the media about youth committing crime. Government authorities don’t seem to know what to do. We want to do something about it; to fix the problem by giving boys guidance and confidence to help them find a positive direction that they are excited about.
My role in Te aukaha Foundation is to be hands-on with our boys and to try and build a trusting relationship with them to inspire and help them believe in themselves to achieve a wonderful life and become great men within their families and the community.
MERRAN
I’m Merran Keil. I am a barrister with over 20 years of experience advising on a wide range of contractual, commercial and financial legal issues. I have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB 2000) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom 1996) from the University of Auckland.
I am the mother of four children and two pet turtles, Tangiwha and Jeremy. I love lively discussions with my children about all sorts of topics. Their perspectives on life are fascinating as they have such uncompromised ideas about how the world and life should be. I like to provide them the independence and opportunity to find or create and follow their own goals and interests.
My goal at Te aukaha is to ensure youth searching for role models can connect with our foundation to assist them in finding and creating their own positive goals and interests.
My role in Te aukaha Foundation is to ensure funding is available to deliver our Social Purpose stated in our constitution and carrying out some rather uninteresting but vital administrative functions required to operate a social enterprise.
